Minutes of Annual Meeting
Walkingstick Men’s Club
Annual Meeting – January 26, 2011, 6 PM – Walkingstick Restaurant
Announcements by Dennis Fitzsimmons
-GHIN fees have gone up to $40 for 2011
-Asked for volunteers for a anonymous Handicap Committee
-The March Super Swindle has been moved to the third Sunday in March, the 20th
Various tournament formats were discussed and the following formats were determined for 2011:
-March 13, Ease(y) into Spring
-April 9, Individual Stroke Play
-May 14 & 15, One Person Best Ball
-June 12, 9-9-9. Same format as 6-6-6, only 27 holes. Dave Lewis stated that we could start on #10, with tee times on the front as the turn is made. -July 10, Multiple Tee
-August 20-21, MC Championship
-September 11, 3 Club
-October 9, format TBD. Possibilities include a Mad Russian format (Ron Ivan) where the pin holes would be cut in impossible positions. A second hole would be cut and the last group would move the flag to a normal position and cap the “impossible“ hole location for the following public groups. Other possibilities are prior formats such as Blind Partner Draw, 2 Man Shamble. Dave Lewis thought the Mad Russian format could be facilitated by the course staff.
Dennis mentioned that Tim Mondragon had suggested a match play format. The consensus was that it would be difficult as a 2 day event and the group would rather keep the One Person Best Ball for the one available 2 day slot in May. Joe Golob asked about the possibility of a season-long Match Play scenario where the players would have two weeks to arrange and play each of their matches. Dennis asked Joe to put something together on paper so we could discuss. We will also ask during the weekly Swindles how much interest there was for such an event.
The Men’s Club standard rules were read aloud and discussed. Those attending decided to alter the eligibility requirement for the Men’s Club Championship from one prior tournament to two prior tournaments in 2011.
Attending:
Dave Lewis, Joe Riddle, Charlie Hall, Mark Mutz, Nick Lusero, Mark Valdez, Joe Pothier, Joe Golob, Bob Brown, Pete Severson, Wes Heusel, Justin Hutchings and Dennis Fitzsimmons
The meeting concluded at 7:15 PM.
